Look 10-Years Younger with Under-Eye Filler

“You look so tired today”
Has anyone ever said this to you even though you’ve had plenty of sleep? The hollowing of your under-eye area could be why people are noticing a change in your appearance. Also called the tear trough, it’s the groove located under the eye that can get sunken and more prominent as we age.

The reason tear troughs become hollow can be due to heredity, poor health or simply because of fat loss in the area due to aging. One thing is for certain, sunken tear troughs can make one look old and haggard by casting a shadow and creating the appearance of dark circles. Eye creams and dark circle treatments are not very effective because they don’t address the structural breakdown of fat and collagen that’s causing the problem.

Trick the eye into looking younger
Once any serious health issues have been ruled out, the easiest and least expensive way to treat hollow tear troughs is with filler. The goal is to fill out the cavity so that the shadowing effect is reduced or eliminated. This creates an illusion whereby light bounces off the newly restored area instead of being absorbed, giving the under-eye area a more youthful profile.

Which filler is best for tear troughs?
Juvederm recently introduced Volbella, a cross-linked hyaluronic acid (a sugar molecule found naturally in the skin) filler that’s FDA approved for treating the under-eye area. It’s well-suited for tear troughs due its soft, fluid texture and natural looking results.

As with all Juvederm fillers, Volbella contains an anaesthetic called lidocane which numbs the area as it’s being injected for a more comfortable experience. Administering Volbella using a cannula can help to minimize bruising and swelling. Tear troughs need to be injected every 12 months to maintain the desired results.
